I recently re-started researching my family history. I’ve goofed around with this a couple times over the years. Luckily I saved all of my files from each time. Since I was using a program from Ancestry.com, it was easy to get things going again. So now I have nearly 300 family names entered and some information, beyond birth dates, on quite a few of them.
As part of my digging around, I actually ran across my Uncle Tom. I’ve never really known my uncle. He is on my dad’s side and I never got to know much of his family. We did spend quite a bit of time with some, but unfortunately never got to know everyone.
Through Uncle Tom’s work, most of which I located online, I added quite a bit to my tree. He is giving me more information as we go and it’s been fun getting to know the family.
A couple highlights, I am descended from people in the Netherlands, Ireland, and Scotland. At least one person was in the British Army. Because I’m an information/research nerd, I am excited about learning more.
